This guide provides instructions for clearing browser cache or launching Incognito mode in Google Chrome.
Part 1: How to Clear Cached Data
Clearing cached data forces Chrome to download the most recent version of a website.
Method A: The Keyboard Shortcut (Fastest)
- Open Google Chrome.
- Press the shortcut keys for your operating system:
- Windows / Linux: Press
Ctrl+Shift+Delete - Mac: Press
Cmd+Shift+Delete
- Windows / Linux: Press
- A Delete browsing data window will appear.
- Select a Time range from the dropdown menu (choose All time to clear everything).
- Check the box next to Cached images and files.
- Optional: Uncheck Browsing history and Cookies if you only want to clear the cache.
- Click the Delete data button.
Method B: The Settings Menu
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the window.
- Hover over More tools and select Clear browsing data.
- Set your preferred Time range.
- Check the box for Cached images and files.
- Click Delete data.
Part 2: How to Launch Chrome in Incognito Mode
Incognito mode opens a private browsing window that does not save your browsing history, cookies, or form data.

- A new dark-themed window will open displaying the Incognito landing page.

- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner.
- Select New Incognito Window from the dropdown menu.
- Confirm the window is active by looking for the Incognito icon (profile icon with glasses and a hat) in the top-right corner.
